TRR 375

Early career support

Supporting early career researchers at every stage of their careers is important to us. This includes inspiring pupils to pursue careers in technology, supporting students and doctoral researchers in their professional development and career planning, and providing post-doctoral researchers with opportunities for growth.

Pupils

TRR 375 is committed to inspiring pupils to pursue science and research and to showing them potential educational and career paths. A particular focus is on sparking pupils’ interest in studying engineering or the natural sciences, encouraging them in their interests, and providing them with practical insights into research.
Through various events, we offer young people the opportunity to experience science firsthand. They can also gain initial impressions of daily student life and work at a university. To this end, we actively participate in events such as the Night of Mechanical Engineering, the Girls and Technology Congress, the Night That Creates Knowledge, and the MI(N)Tmachwelt. Information on additional events for pupils at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau and Leibniz University Hannover can be found below.

Students

HyPo offers students a wide range of opportunities for further education. Students have the opportunity to conduct their theses within the various projects of TRR 375. In addition, they can work as student assistants in the collaborative research centre. This allows them to become involved in research at an early stage, gain initial experience in academic work, and apply and deepen the theoretical knowledge they have acquired during their studies in a practical setting. The best bachelor’s and master’s theses completed within the CRC are awarded the TRR 375 Student Prize. For their outstanding achievements, students receive a certificate and a personalized engraved pen.

Doctoral researchers

In addition to the professional qualification they receive as part of their doctoral studies, we support our doctoral researchers through further qualification programs offered at RPTU by the RPTU Center for Early Career Researchers, at LUH by the Graduate Academy, and through our own initiatives at TRR 375. Our Integrated Research Training Group provides an excellent platform for this. It organizes seminars and workshops on interdisciplinary topics such as scientific writing, project management using Scrum, and self-management and time management. In addition, it supports doctoral researchers in arranging research stays abroad. Through these activities, doctoral researchers become familiar not only with various scientific approaches but also with international academic structures and culture, which fosters their personal development and has a positive impact on their future career prospects.

Post-doctoral researchers

We place a special emphasis on fostering the independence of early-career researchers. Whenever possible, they are actively involved in TRR 375 in roles of responsibility, such as leading projects and cross-section groups. This enables young researchers to develop their own professional profile and gain visibility beyond their own university. We support post-doctoral researchers in submitting their own research proposals with straightforward seed funding.
